The most dangerous children’s toys of 2016

As a parent in Louisiana, you likely try to do everything possible to protect your child, but sometimes you may unknowingly bring dangers into your own home. We at Jacqueline A. Scott and Associates work to keep your family safe, which is why we have compiled a list of some of the most dangerous toys that were released in 2016.

Goodhousekeeping.com reports that some of the most dangerous toys may be ones you least expect: stuffed animals. The brand Kids Time created an infant elephant pillow. The toy was marked as an infant toy, but is soft and squishy, making it a danger for suffocation. It is also labeled as a pillow, which is deceiving to parents since recommendations are that no toys or pillows should go in the crib.

Another danger for cribs is the Peppy Pup. This dog has a leash and the packaging states that it can be used as a crib toy. The industry standard for any strings on objects like this is 12 inches to prevent strangulation, but the leash on this dog is 31 inches long.

The Banzai Bump N’ Bounce Body Bumpers have the potential for major injuries. No protective gear is provided or even encouraged, yet your child’s head could easily collide with another child’s body part or the ground if he or she were knocked down.

Keeping your child safe can be difficult when seemingly safe toys present hidden dangers. You can learn more about how to protect your child and what to do if you or a loved one are injured by a product by visiting our web page.
