According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, there are specific protocols that people in supervisory roles should consider to protect their workers. However, these suggestions are equally as applicable to you as you take the initiative to better protect yourself from dangerous accidents. Here are some of the things you can do:

  • Wear appropriate safety equipment: There may be times when you question the convenience or necessity of wearing all of the safety gear recommended for your job. • Be familiar with hazards: Each time you learn a new responsibility or are given an unfamiliar task, do not be afraid to ask if there are hazards you should be aware of. Your familiarity with job-specific dangers can help you behave responsibly and attentively to keep yourself and others safe.
  • Participate in trainings: Every so often, your employer may provide or recommend trainings designed to educate you and your colleagues. Take advantage of these learning opportunities and do your part to encourage your associates to attend trainings with you.
