If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident, you may be struggling to make ends meet. Many people are forced to miss work while treating their injuries. That’s where an experienced Shreveport personal injury lawyer can step in.
At Jacqueline A. Scott & Associates, we can help. For guidance during your recovery, our team can help advocate for full compensation.
Our offices are located at 1115 Pierremont Road in Shreveport and 401 Hamilton Road, Suite 110, in Bossier City. Our Shreveport personal injury attorney can discuss your personal injury claim during a free consultation, with injury cases handled on a contingency arrangement rather than requiring upfront fees.
Remote consultations by Zoom are available, and Spanish-speaking staff can help clients with communication and scheduling. In addition to taking on premises liability, workplace, and general accident claims, we regularly work with Auto Accident, Truck Accident, Motorcycle Accident, Slip and Fall, Construction Injury, Catastrophic Work Injury, and Plant Explosion Injury cases along the I-20, I-49, Airline Drive, LA-3, US-80, and US-71.
Under Louisiana personal injury laws, a Shreveport case is filed in the First Judicial District Court of Caddo Parish, and a Bossier City case is filed in Bossier Parish District Court.
Our team helps accident victims throughout northwest Louisiana bring personal injury claims that reimburse them for their lost wages and medical bills, and compensate them for their pain and suffering.
At Jacqueline A. Scott & Associates, we live by the golden rule: Treat others as you want to be treated. Every client who comes through our door is given respect and personal attention.
Insurance companies can be difficult to deal with. Claims adjusters have one goal: to protect the insurance company’s bottom line. In order to meet that goal, they often offer initial settlements that don’t come close to compensating accident victims for their financial loss and physical pain and suffering. Our team can also assist with Oil & Gas Injury, Offshore Claims, Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation, and Workers’ Compensation matters.
We protect our clients’ financial interests. Attorney Jacqueline Scott is a strong negotiator and experienced litigator who uses every legal tool available to advocate for her clients.
In 2024, there were around 54,500,000 preventable injuries across the United States resulting in 197,449 fatalities. Because of this, we understand that what appears to be a minor injury today may evolve into a serious injury requiring long-term medical treatment.
Our attorneys work closely with the treating physicians of our clients to review medical records before making the full nature and extent of our clients’ injuries known. We then pursue compensation that fairly reimburses clients for their injuries. This approach can be valuable in cases involving a Defective Medical Device, Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home Neglect & Abuse, or Wrongful & Missed Diagnosis.
A personal injury claim can be lost before it ever reaches court if the applicable filing deadline expires. Under La. C.C. art. 3493.1, a Louisiana negligence claim that developed on or after July 1, 2024, generally has a two-year prescriptive period. Claims before that date remain subject to the former one-year period, making the date of the accident an important starting point in Shreveport.
Not every injury claim follows the same deadline. Louisiana personal injury laws treat certain types of cases separately. For example:
Under La. C.C. art. 3468, the prescription can run against minors in circumstances provided by law. An injured child doesn’t necessarily receive additional time simply by turning 18. A parent or legal representative who waits too long could therefore put the child’s claim at risk.
Because the consequences of missing a deadline can be serious, a Shreveport personal injury attorney should begin investigating the circumstances as early as possible.
In addition to possibly missing the deadline and forfeiting your right to compensation, there’s a timer when it comes to gathering evidence. For accidents on I-20 and I-49, vehicles could be repaired or sold within weeks, and dash-camera recordings and traffic-camera footage can also be retained for only a limited period.
The sooner you hire a Shreveport personal injury attorney from our firm, the sooner we can get to work compiling the evidence needed.
Our team’s results include a $2.5 million offshore accident recovery and a $500,000 car accident recovery.*
We develop creative, effective solutions to the legal problems our clients face.

The allocation of fault is another important part of Louisiana’s personal injury laws. Under La. C.C. art. 2323(A)(2), effective January 1, 2026, a person found to be 51% or more at fault can’t recover damages. When a person’s share of fault is below 51%, the recovery is reduced according to the percentage of fault assigned.
Insurance companies could raise comparative-fault arguments early in a case. After a collision on Airline Drive, US-80, or an I-20 service road, an adjuster might assign a percentage of fault based largely on the initial crash report. However, our Shreveport personal injury attorney can review the available evidence to refute that assignment, including:
Treatment records from Willis-Knighton, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, and Ochsner Bossier can also help document the connection between the collision and the injuries. When fault or causation is disputed, complete medical documentation can provide important evidence supporting the personal injury claim.
