The dangers of energy drinks

Energy drinks are a very popular product on the market in Louisiana. While the FDA has cleared them for sale, there has been proof these beverages pose a health risk. Consumers should educate themselves about the potential risks of consuming these drinks to avoid serious side effects or health ramifications.

Understanding Louisiana’s DWI/DUI laws

Louisiana drivers who get behind the wheel after having a few drinks or engaging in the use of illegal drugs do so at their own risk. Louisiana has stiff penalties for driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence of illegal substances. The Louisiana Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control states that a Louisiana driver must have a blood alcohol content of less than 0.08 percent in order to be considered legal to drive. That level decreases to less than 0.02 percent if the driver is someone under the legal drinking age of 21.

Understanding the basics of Jones Act claims in Louisiana

If you were injured in the course of working aboard a ship near the Louisiana coastline, you may be able to recover under the Jones Act. This legislation, codified in the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, provides certain protections and avenues of redress for maritime employees.

What are the long-lasting effects of a felony charge?

If you are convicted of a felony in Louisiana, the punishment may go far beyond that which is handed down by the court. There are many lasting effects that will cause you to lose rights and that could alter your life. According to the Louisiana Justice Coalition, a felony charge may affect your employment, ability to receive government benefits and your civil rights.

Recent birth control pill recall

Recalls of medications in Louisiana can have long-lasting effects. Sometimes patients may not be aware of the recall and keep using the medication. In some cases, damage is already done once a recall is made. According to Time, in May 2017, there was a recall on birth control pills made by the manufacturer Lupin Pharmaceuticals. The issue with the pills was the first four pills in each pack were not active and were only placebos. This, obviously, rendered the pills ineffective against preventing pregnancy.
